Fixed blade KNIVES you can carry in your pack or pocket
62
Most of the time when we think of a knife we can carry in our pocket a folding knife comes to mind. Something similar to the old two blade folder shown in the picture above.
Folding knives have been carried for many years but a solid fixed blade would be my choice.
Yes small or medium sized fixed blade knives can be carried in your pocket with a proper leather sheath with a good solid welt. If your unfamiliar with what a welt is on a leather sheath it is basically a piece of leather sandwiched in between the the front and back leather. See the photo attached below.
Be Careful. If you have a leather knife sheath and there isn't a welt sewn into the sheath pocket carry wouldn't be a good choice as the blade can cut through the stitching or poke through the side of rivets that may be on your sheath and cut you.
One major advantage to a fixed blade pocket knife is strength. A full tang or fixed blade knife is stronger than a folding or slip joint knife as you have one solid piece of steel from tip to rear.
Also with a multi carry sheath as shown above if you want this can also be carried on your belt.
Many prefer the smaller to mid sized knife or what is being called an "every day carry knife" as they are handy for many cutting tasks such as fishing, food, game, and much more.
